New features and improvements in Release 6

  • Faster document processing
The new release includes enhancements, which significantly contribute to the overall processing performance.
    • New mechanism for memory management - heap manager
According to our test results the document processing with new CLI release is up to 20% faster compared with the previous release.
    • Parallel multi-page document opening. The new CLI release can distribute the opening of multi-page documents to CPU cores. New functionality brings up to 2 times speed-up for image opening step in 2 and 4 core configurations.
  • Higher recognition accuracy
The new CLI release includes now further functionalities for image pre-processing, which help to enhance the quality of an input image. The higher quality of the image leads to better OCR results.
    • The new crop function for images adjusts the borders of the image by cropping the background. More details >

  • Support of the latest versions of ALTO format

  • Faster and more accurate barcode processing
Depending on use case, it is now possible to select between two profiles for barcode recognition: BarcodeRecognition_Speed and BarcodeRecognition_Accuracy. The profiles are optimized for either faster or more accurate barcode extraction.
The new BarcodeRecognition_Speed profile speeds up the processing almost by 2 times. More details >
  • Improved screenshot detection
The technology for screenshots' detection has been improved, so that CLI tool is now able to identify screenshots as image blocks instead of trying to read the text from it.
  • More flexibility when viewing a PDF document
A new option in CLI allows to manage the availability of PDF layers in the output PDF file. If the option is used, the PDF layers are assigned to MRC image planes, so that in some PDF viewers such as Adobe Acrobat it is possible to choose which layers to view. More details >
  • Ability to control the decreasing of the licence counter units
With the new key you can now control the decreasing of licence counter units. It is especially useful in scenario, when the input images come from unknown sources and you do not know in advance which format and size the incoming documents have. To avoid license counter units loss, you can now use the new key, which will check the size of the pages in the input document. In case one of the document pages will be larger than A4 format the execution of the command will be stopped and a warning will be displayed. More details >
